Cinema at Parthenon!

A new film festival breathes life in the beautiful preserved traditional village of Parthenon, in Chalkidiki, this summer.
For three days, from 3 to 5 July 2015, the traditional village of Parthenonas, Sithonia, Halkidiki, the central square in front of the old primary school, turned into an open air projection room, of course with free admission, and recommends public some of the greatest directors of the 7th art. The name of the new festival? Parthenon Film Festival - Cinema in the village.
Only 5 km. From Neos Marmaras, Parthenon is a traditional village built at an altitude of 350 meters, with rich traditional architecture. Its inhabitants gradually began to leave the village in the 70s to settle in neighboring New Marmara, which offered more job opportunities. In the early 80s the Parthenon kateixe completely abandoned. In the following years but most buildings of the village restored and are restored, giving new life to the place.
1985 founded by former residents of the village the cultural association "The Parthenon", which helps to promote and protect the traditional character of the village and organizing cultural and other events. A group of young people therefore decided to organize this year the first Parthenon Film Festival aimed to highlight the art of cinema in the region, enabling the audience to world cinema masterpieces in a unique site of outstanding beauty. At the same time, the festival seeks to strengthen the promotion of the Parthenon and the region as a destination through a positive personal experience of visitors.
Classic diamonds, such as "The 400 Xtypimata" Francois Truffaut and "The Birds" by Alfred Hitchcock, but also shocking directorial debut of Charles Laughton, "The Night of the Hunter", constitute the main program of the Festival. But supporting and the new generation of Greek artists, the Festival hosts two award-winning short films, the «Dust» of Tsimpini Thanasis and «Nicoleta» Sonia Lisa Kenterman. In parallel, to launch the first Parthenon Film Festival - Cinema in the village was chosen as the special screening of the Oscar-winning screenplay and Golden Palm, "The Red Balloon" by Albert Lamoris.
